Need to join two pieces of 150mm duct? DAC6 is the genuine Deflecto connect sleeve for that diameter. Use it to extend a rangehood or exhaust fan run past the length of one duct, or to splice in new duct where a section has torn or been crushed. As 150mm is a common size for rangehoods, it's a handy fitting to keep in the van.
Why a proper duct joiner matters
Poorly joined ducting is a common reason a rangehood seems weak. Gaps at a join let air escape into the ceiling, so less of it reaches the outlet, and that escaping air carries moisture and grease that can stain plaster and attract dust. The sleeve gives each duct end something firm to grip, keeping the join round and sealed. It also makes the run easier to take apart later if the fan or rangehood is replaced.

Fitting the DAC6 sleeve
Isolate the power to the rangehood or fan first. Slide one duct end over the sleeve until it covers about half of it, then do the same from the other side. Hold each end in place with a clamp, wrap both joins in aluminium foil tape, and strap or hang the duct so the join isn't carrying any weight.

What size duct does DAC6 suit?
It's made for 150mm ducting. For 125mm duct, use the DAC5 sleeve. If you're joining two different sizes, you'll need an increaser or reducer fitting rather than a straight sleeve.
