Product details
CC41200 is a generic universal thermocouple kit with a 1200mm lead, for gas appliances that use a thermocouple to prove the flame. A long lead like this suits appliances where the gas valve sits well away from the burner or pilot. Being universal, the kit isn't tied to a single brand. Check the length, tip style and valve connection on your old thermocouple, and remember gas work must be done by a licensed gas fitter.
Pilot won't stay lit? The thermocouple may be the cause
A thermocouple sits in the flame and produces a tiny voltage when heated. That voltage holds the gas valve's safety magnet open. If the flame goes out, the thermocouple cools, the voltage drops and the valve shuts off the gas. When a thermocouple wears out or its tip is damaged, the pilot or burner lights but goes out as soon as you let go of the knob. A dirty or badly positioned tip, or a loose connection at the valve, can cause the same fault.

Fitting a universal thermocouple
Turn off the gas and power before starting, and have the job done by a licensed gas fitter. Fit the tip so the flame covers it properly, route the lead away from hot surfaces and sharp edges, and don't kink it. Tighten the valve connection firmly but not excessively. Test for gas leaks and check the flame failure works before handing the appliance back.
Questions about this part
Can I use a 1200mm thermocouple if my old one is shorter?
Often yes, provided the tip and valve connection suit, as the extra lead can be looped gently. Don't kink or crush it while coiling. If the original length matters for your appliance's approval, ask your gas fitter to confirm.
