Why your De'Longhi needs a working grounds container
After the brewing unit compresses and extracts the coffee, it ejects the used puck into this container, which usually sits at the front of the machine with the drip tray. On most De'Longhi automatic machines the container has to be in place before the machine will brew, and the machine keeps count of the pucks so it can prompt you to empty it. A cracked container leaks coffee sludge, a warped one may not slide in fully, and a missing one stops you making coffee at all. If the machine keeps asking for the container when it's already in, check its fit before blaming the electronics.

Fitting and caring for the new container
No tools needed. With the machine switched off, slide the drip tray out first on models where the container sits behind it, lift the old container out and drop the new one in, then push everything back until it seats fully. Empty it daily and rinse with warm water, letting it dry before refitting. Wet grounds left for days grow mould quickly.
