Product details

If pressure inside the machine climbs too high, the safety valve is what lets it go. AS00002817 is the genuine De'Longhi safety valve, made for De'Longhi coffee machines. Models aren't on file for this number yet, so match AS00002817 against your old valve or the exploded view for your model before you buy. If you're unsure, our parts enquiry form is the easiest way to check.

Signs your De'Longhi safety valve needs replacing

The safety valve protects the heating and water circuit. Normally it stays shut, but if pressure rises past its set point, for example because a pipe or outlet is blocked with scale, it opens and vents water or steam to relieve it. A valve that has opened repeatedly, or one clogged with scale, may not reseal. Then you'll see water appearing under the machine or in the drip tray, steam or hissing from inside, or weak pressure at the spout. Clear whatever blockage made it open, or the new valve will soon be doing the same thing.

Fitting the safety valve

Unplug the machine and let the heater and pipes cool before opening the case. If your machine has a steam wand, open it to release any pressure still in the system. Photograph the valve position and pipe connections, then swap it over with any new seals supplied. Descale the machine afterwards and watch for leaks over the first few brews.

Questions about this part

Why does my safety valve keep leaking?

A safety valve that keeps letting go is often reacting to a blockage, usually scale, somewhere downstream. Replacing the valve without clearing the cause rarely lasts. Descale the machine, check the outlets and pipes, then fit a new AS00002817 if the old one won't reseal.
