AKN73029001 is a genuine LG filter head assembly for LG fridges with a water filter. The head is the fixed part the filter cartridge twists or clicks into, and it routes water through the filter on its way to the dispenser or ice maker. If the head is cracked, leaking or won't hold a filter, a new cartridge alone won't fix it. Check your fridge model against this part number before ordering.
LG fridge leaking at the water filter?
The filter head holds the cartridge under mains water pressure and contains the passages and seals that direct water in and out of the filter. Problems usually show up after a filter change. The new filter won't lock in, water leaks or drips around the filter housing, the dispenser runs slowly or not at all, or the fridge doesn't detect the filter. Overtightening, cross-threading or a cracked plastic port are common causes. Before replacing the head, try a known genuine filter and make sure it's fully seated.

Replacing the filter head
Unplug the fridge and turn off the water supply at the isolation tap. Remove the filter and the cover around the head, then take a photo of the water lines before releasing them. Fit the new head, push each line fully into its fitting and refit the filter. Turn the water back on, run a few litres through the dispenser and check for leaks.

Do I need a new filter as well?
Not always, but if the filter is due for replacement it makes sense to fit a new one with the new head. A worn or cracked filter neck can damage the head, so check the old cartridge closely before reusing it.
