LG builds many remotes that look alike from the front but carry different button layouts and codes inside, which is why the AKB number is the thing to match. You'll usually find it printed on the back of the handset or under the battery cover. If it reads AKB74955603, this replacement will do the same job as your old remote.

Common reasons to replace an LG remote controller

Remotes get dropped on tiles, sat on and splashed, and every knock takes a toll on the solder joints and keypad. Battery leaks are another big cause, as the electrolyte eats into the springs and circuit tracks. A faulty handset may work only when held at an angle, respond to some buttons and not others, or show a dim or blank display if it has one. If cleaning the battery contacts and fitting new batteries doesn't fix it, replacing the handset is the practical answer.

Part details

Genuine LG part AKB74955603

Remote controller assembly, supplied as a complete handset

Code usually shown on the back or under the battery cover

Product type not on file, order by matching the AKB code

Setting up your replacement remote

Open the battery cover and load new batteries the right way round. Aim the remote at the product's receiver and try power, then a few other buttons. If nothing happens, test the batteries, confirm the code on your old remote is AKB74955603, and check the owner's manual in case the product needs the remote registered. Recycle old batteries rather than putting them in household waste.

Questions about this part

My old remote has no label. How can I check this is the right one?

Find the model number on your LG product, usually on a label at the back or side, and send it through our parts enquiry form.
