Product details

No water from the dispenser or no fresh ice? On many plumbed LG fridges the culprit is the inlet valve, and AJU72992604 is the genuine single outlet version, also listed as MJX41178930. There are 20 LG models on file, including the GR-L730SL, GR-D730SL and GR-D907SL, the GF-AD910SL and GF-5D712SL, and the GF-L570PL and GF-V570MBL.

LG fridge not making ice or dispensing water

This electrically operated valve sits at the back of the fridge where the water line connects. When the fridge calls for water, the valve opens to let it through to the dispenser or ice maker, then snaps shut again. A coil can burn out, leaving the valve shut so nothing flows, or debris can stop it closing fully, which shows up as a dripping dispenser, an overflowing ice tray or water leaking behind the fridge. Some valves also buzz loudly when they open. Low mains pressure or a kinked line can mimic a valve fault, so check those first.

Changing the water valve

Turn the water off at the tap feeding the fridge and unplug it from the wall. Pull the fridge out carefully so you don't kink or stretch the water line, then remove the rear cover. Photograph the wiring and tube positions before disconnecting anything, and catch any trapped water with a towel. After refitting, restore water and power, run the dispenser, and check every joint for leaks over the next day.

Questions about this part

How do I know if my LG fridge needs the 1 way valve?

Count the outlets on your old valve. AJU72992604 is the single outlet version listed for the models shown. Fridges with more outlets use a different valve, so confirm the model number on the label inside the fridge before you order.
