LG top loader not filling or overfilling?

The inlet valve sits where the hoses connect at the back of the machine. When the control board energises one of its coils, that outlet opens and water flows into the machine. With three outlets, the board can send water along separate paths as each stage of the program needs it. If a coil fails or the valve sticks, you may see no water entering, only hot or only cold, very slow filling, or water trickling in even when the washer is turned off. Blocked inlet screens can mimic a faulty valve, so check those first.

Swapping the inlet valve

Turn off both taps and switch the washer off at the wall. Disconnect the inlet hoses, then label each wire and internal hose before removing the old valve. Mixing up the connections can send water to the wrong place, so match each plug to the coil it came off. Clean the inlet screens, refit the hoses and test hot and cold fills for leaks and correct filling.

Can I use a 240V valve instead?

No. This LG valve uses 12V DC coils, powered at low voltage by the machine's control board. A 240V AC valve won't work correctly on these washers, so stick with AJU72912501 or one of its linked LG numbers.
