Signs your LG dishwasher lower rack needs replacing
The lower rack holds the heaviest load in the machine and rolls in and out every time you load it. Over the years the plastic coating on the wires can chip, letting rust form and leave orange marks on the tub and dishes. Broken tines, cracked wheels or a warped frame can stop the rack rolling smoothly, catch on the door or let plates fall against the lower spray arm, which then cannot turn properly and leaves dishes dirty. A sound rack keeps the load spaced so water reaches every item.

Swapping the lower rack
No tools are normally needed. Open the door fully, slide the old rack out and lift it clear of the rails. Move across any removable inserts you want to keep, such as a cutlery basket, if the new rack does not come with them. Roll the new rack in and push it home, spin the lower spray arm by hand to make sure nothing fouls it, then close the door gently to check it shuts without catching.
