AFG73369709 is the genuine LG lid assembly listed for the WTG8521. Check the model on the label before ordering, as LG lids vary between ranges in shape, size and fittings.

When to replace the lid on an LG top loader

The lid keeps water and clothes in during agitation and spin, and it works with the lid switch or lock to tell the machine it is safe to run. Hinges crack, the lid can be dropped or leaned on, and on some models the glass or plastic panel can break. A lid that no longer closes squarely can stop the machine spinning, trigger a lid error, or let water splash out. A badly damaged lid is also a safety risk, since it may not keep hands out while the bowl is turning.

Part details

Genuine LG part AFG73369709

Top load washer lid assembly

Listed for LG WTG8521

Fitting the new lid

Unplug the machine before you start. The lid is usually fixed through its hinges to the top panel, which may need to be tilted up or removed to reach the screws. Take a photo of how the hinges sit, transfer any parts the new assembly doesn't include, and close the lid a few times to make sure it lines up with the lid switch or lock.

Questions about this part

Will this lid fit other LG top loaders?

It is only listed for the WTG8521.
