Common signs of a failed LG ice maker
The ice maker takes water from the fridge's supply, freezes it in a tray, then releases the cubes into the bucket and starts again until the bucket is full. When the assembly fails you may find no ice at all, cubes that are tiny or hollow, a tray that stays full of frozen ice without dropping it, or water overflowing and freezing around the ice compartment. Before replacing it, check the water supply is turned on, the filter isn't blocked and the ice maker hasn't been switched off, as these cause the same symptoms.

Installing the new ice maker
Switch the fridge off at the wall and turn off its water supply. Empty the bucket and take a photo of the wiring connector and mounting screws before removing the old unit. Fit the new assembly in the same position, push the plug home firmly, then restore water and power. The first cubes take several hours to appear, so give it time before judging the result.
