LG washer not heating water? Test the heater and thermistor
The heater sits low in the outer tub and warms the water for hot and warm wash programs. Its thermistor reads the water temperature so the control board knows when to switch the heat off. When the element fails, washes come out cold, cycles drag on much longer than normal or the machine stops and shows a heating error. An element that has shorted to earth can also trip the safety switch the moment the washer calls for heat. Because the thermistor comes with this assembly, both parts are renewed in the one job.

Swapping the washer heater
Switch the washer off at the wall, unplug it and turn off the taps. Drain any water left in the tub first, because the heater sits below the water line. Photograph the wiring and the thermistor plug, loosen the centre nut and ease the old element out. Make sure the inner end of the new one hooks into its bracket in the tub before you tighten the nut, then run a warm wash and check for leaks.
