Please note, ADQ73913309 is not a replacement water filter. It's the genuine LG water filter assembly that holds the filter in an LG fridge, made up of the water tank, the filter head, the valve and the front cover. The filter cartridge itself isn't included. Order it when the housing side of the system has failed, and buy the correct LG cartridge separately if you need a fresh filter too.

When the filter housing, not the cartridge, is the problem

The filter head is where the cartridge locks in and where water is routed through it on the way to the dispenser and ice maker. In most designs the valve stops water flowing when the cartridge is taken out, and the tank holds water so it can chill before it reaches the dispenser. Housing faults show up as water leaking from the filter area or pooling in the fridge, a cartridge that won't lock in or keeps popping out, no water at the dispenser even with a new filter, or a cracked cover. A new cartridge won't fix those.

Fitting the new housing

Unplug the fridge and turn off the water supply tap before touching any water lines. Have towels ready, as the tank and lines will hold water. Photograph how the tubes connect, push each tube fully into its fitting, then reconnect the water and check every joint for drips. Fit a filter cartridge, then run several litres through the dispenser to clear air and flush the system.
