ADQ72910911 is the genuine LG LT500P water filter for LG fridges with an internal filter and a water or ice dispenser. It has also been sold as 5231JA2002A and ADQ72910901, so any of those numbers on your old cartridge points to this one. Listed models include the GR-L207 and GR-L208 series, the GC-L258 side by side range and the GM-L237 and GML277 models. LG suggests a new cartridge about every six months.
When to change your LG fridge water filter
Water heading to the dispenser and ice maker runs through this carbon block cartridge, which traps sediment and other particles before they reach your glass. As it clogs, the flow at the dispenser slows to a trickle, ice cubes come out smaller or hollow, and the water can start to taste or smell off. A filter left in far too long can restrict flow enough to upset the ice maker. Sticking to the six month change interval avoids most of these problems, so note the date each time you fit a new cartridge.

Changing the LT500P cartridge
The LT500P sits inside the fresh food compartment behind a cover. Open the cover, twist the old cartridge to release it and pull it out, with a cloth ready for drips. Push the new filter in, twist until it locks and close the cover. Run a few jugs of water through the dispenser and tip them out to flush air and loose carbon from the line.
