Kneading blade A, Panasonic part ADD96E226, is the genuine paddle for the SD-YR2550SST bread maker. It sits on the drive shaft in the bottom of the bread pan and does the mixing and kneading before the dough rises. Panasonic labels some of its blades with letters, so check that A matches the blade your machine uses. Paddles often go missing when they stay stuck in a loaf and get thrown out with it.
Signs your Panasonic bread maker paddle needs replacing
The kneading blade turns with the shaft under the bread pan to mix flour, water and yeast, then works the dough to build gluten. A worn or damaged blade leaves pockets of flour in the corners, dense heavy loaves, or dough that never comes together into a smooth ball. If the blade has a non stick finish, scourers and age wear it away, so dough and crust start to cling and the blade gets harder to remove. A blade that has worn loose on the shaft may also rattle or slip. Losing the blade altogether is the most common reason people order a new one.

Fitting the blade and caring for it
Make sure the machine is unplugged and the pan has cooled. Push the blade down onto the shaft in the pan, lining it up with the shape of the shaft. If the blade sticks after baking, soak the pan in warm water rather than prising it out. Wash it by hand with a soft cloth to protect the finish.
