Lost the paddle in a loaf, or found the old one bent or loose? ADD96E160 is the genuine Panasonic kneading blade for the SD-257 and SD-2501, and the SD-ZB2512 and SD-ZB2512KST bread makers. It sits on the drive shaft in the bottom of the bread pan and mixes and kneads the dough before baking. Check your model on the label on the machine before ordering.
When a bread maker paddle needs replacing
The kneading blade is driven from below through the bread pan and does all the mixing and kneading. If the blade is worn, bent or loose on its shaft, ingredients won't combine properly, leaving floury corners, dense or lopsided loaves, and dough that never develops. A blade that is missing altogether, often lost in a loaf or the bin, means the machine can't make bread at all. Blades that are scratched or pitted also tend to stick in the baked loaf, tearing a bigger hole in the base when you remove it.

Fitting and caring for the blade
Unplug the bread maker and take out the bread pan. Line the flat inside the blade up with the shaft in the bottom of the pan and push it down until it sits fully home. After baking, let the pan cool before removing the blade, and soak it in warm water if it sticks. Avoid metal utensils and abrasive scrubbers when cleaning.
