Panasonic split system noisy or blowing weakly?
The cross flow fan draws room air through the filters and coil and pushes it out past the louvres. Over time it collects dust and mould on its blades, which unbalances it and cuts airflow. A cracked or loose fan can rattle, knock, squeal or vibrate, and a badly clogged one leaves the unit blowing weakly even on high fan speed. You may also notice a musty smell or black specks coming out with the air. Cleaning helps a dirty fan, but a cracked or warped barrel needs replacing.

Replacing the cross flow fan
Isolate the air conditioner at its isolator or the switchboard before opening the indoor unit. Split systems are hard-wired, so this job is for a licensed electrician or air conditioning technician. On most indoor units the fan is reached by removing the drain tray and easing the coil out of the way, so take photos as you go. Check the motor coupling is tight on the shaft and the fan spins freely before reassembly.
