Signs the bottom element in your Ariston oven has failed
In conventional and bottom heat modes, the lower element warms the oven from below, often working alongside the top or fan element to keep the temperature even. When it fails, the oven takes far longer to heat up, struggles to reach temperature or cooks unevenly, with pale undersides on pies, pizza bases and cakes. A blown element can also trip the safety switch as soon as you select a bake function. A quick resistance check with a multimeter across the terminals will show if the element is open circuit.

Replacing the lower element
Switch the oven off at the isolating switch or circuit breaker before starting. Most built-in ovens are hard-wired, so have a licensed electrician do the job. Access is usually from the rear panel or by lifting the oven floor. Photograph the terminal connections, move them across one at a time, and check the wires and spade connectors for heat damage. Run the oven on bottom heat for a few minutes to confirm it warms.
