When an Ariston oven knob needs replacing
A control knob turns the switch, thermostat or timer behind the fascia. It grips a shaped shaft, often D-shaped, so it only fits one way and its markings line up with the panel. Over time the plastic insert can crack or wear smooth, and the knob starts slipping, wobbling or pulling off in your hand. A faded or heat-damaged knob also makes the setting hard to read. Fix a loose knob early, as a slipping one can leave the oven on a different setting to the one you think you've chosen.

Fitting the new knob
Turn the oven off and let it cool. Pull the old knob straight off the shaft, rocking it gently if it's tight, and avoid levering against the glass or panel. Line up the shaped shaft with the opening in the new knob, push it fully home and check that the off position lines up with the marking on the fascia.
