Product details

A052951 is a genuine ignition spark plug for the standard burners on Ariston gas cooking appliances. It's the electrode that sits beside the burner and throws the spark that lights the gas. The STD in its description marks it as the standard version rather than one for a wok or other special burner. No models are on file, so compare the old plug's shape, lead and connector, or check your model number first.

Clicking but no flame on an Ariston burner

Each time you push and turn a burner knob, the ignition module sends a high voltage pulse down the lead, and the spark jumps from the plug to the burner to light the gas. Spark plugs fail when the ceramic cracks, the tip gets coated in grease or spills, or the lead breaks down. Common signs are one burner that won't light while the others do, a weak or wandering spark, or sparking under the cooktop instead of at the burner. Moisture causes similar trouble, so dry and clean the burner first.

Replacing a burner spark plug

Turn off the power at the wall and close the gas isolation valve before lifting the cooktop. Follow the old lead back to the ignition module and photograph how it connects. Clip the new plug into the burner base and route its lead along the same path, clear of hot parts. In Australia, gas appliance work should be done by a licensed gas fitter.

Questions about this part

Do I need a standard or a wok spark plug?

This is the standard version. Wok and larger burners can use a different plug or lead length. Check which burner position the old plug came from and compare it with the photo. If you're unsure, send your model number through our parts enquiry form.
