ILVE oven door not closing or hinge pulling out
The door hinge slides into this support, which carries the load of a heavy ILVE door every time it opens. If the support bends, cracks or its fixing loosens, the hinge no longer locks in firmly. Typical signs are a door that sits crooked, drops on one side, leaves a gap at the top or won't latch shut, with heat escaping around the seal. A worn support can also damage a new hinge, so replace the support if you can see wear, even when fitting new hinges.

Fitting the hinge support
Switch the oven off at the wall and let it cool. Remove the door by locking the hinges open and lifting it free. Depending on the model, the support is fixed with screws inside the oven frame or behind a side panel, which may mean sliding the cooker out. Fit the new support square, refit the door and check it closes evenly against the seal.
