ILVE oven door seal leaking heat
Seals on a busy ILVE cooker go through thousands of heat cycles, and eventually they harden, fray or pull away from the oven front. The door then lets heat out along the gap, which makes the oven slower to heat, harder to hold at temperature and prone to cooking unevenly. You'll often see grease and brown staining on the oven front above the door, feel heat on the knobs and control panel, or notice steam escaping at the top while baking.

Changing an ILVE door seal
Start with the oven off and cold. Taking the door off can make the job easier on ILVE cookers. Note how the old seal is fixed and where its join sits, then remove it and clean the mounting area. Fit the new seal in the same position, working evenly around so it doesn't stretch, and check the door closes firmly.
