Smeg oven door dropping open or not sealing?

The hinge links the door to the oven body and uses a spring to hold the door closed against the seal. Constant opening and closing slowly tires the spring and wears the hinge pivots. The result is a door that falls open hard, sits crooked or leaves a gap where heat leaks out. You may also hear grinding or creaking as the door moves. If one hinge has failed, check the other one too, because they usually wear at the same rate.

Swapping a Smeg oven hinge

Let the oven cool and turn it off at the isolator. Open the door fully and lock the hinge clips or levers in place before lifting the door away, so the springs can't snap closed. Undo the hinge screws inside the oven frame, fit the new hinge in the same position and refit the door. Test that it opens smoothly and closes evenly on both sides.

Questions about this part

Should I replace both hinges?

It's worth it in most cases. Both hinges carry the door, so when one has worn out the other usually isn't far behind. Check the number on each hinge and order one for every side that takes 931332084.
