Product details
Recirculating rangehoods rely on a charcoal filter to clean the air before it's blown back into the kitchen. Part 9029800480 is a generic carbon filter made to suit AEG and Electrolux hoods, replacing 9029793636. It's listed for the DGE5160HM and DGE5660HM, the DGE5860HM and DBE6980HM, the DL8560-M and DL8590-M, the EFC9542X/A and EFC9551X/A, and the ERC925DSD, ERC930SA and ERCE90AS.
Rangehood not removing cooking smells
In recirculating mode, air is drawn through the grease filters and then through the carbon filter, which absorbs smoke and cooking odours before the air goes back into the room. As the carbon fills up it stops absorbing, and you'll notice smells hanging around long after cooking, a greasy film building on nearby surfaces, or the hood sounding like it's working harder for less result. A carbon filter that has been wet, or has grease soaked through it, also loses its capacity. Ducted hoods vent outside and don't need one.

Swapping the carbon filter
Turn the hood off and let it cool. Take out the grease filters first, then remove the old carbon filter, noting how it's attached, as some twist or clip onto the motor housing. Fit the new filter in the same position and make sure it's secure before refitting the grease filters. Write the date somewhere handy so you know when it was last changed.
Questions about this part
Does my rangehood need a carbon filter?
Only if it recirculates air back into the kitchen instead of ducting it outside. If your hood has no duct to the outside, it needs a carbon filter to deal with odours. Check your model against the list for 9029800480.
