Rangehood not clearing cooking smells? Time for new carbon filters
A rangehood that is not ducted outside cleans the air and sends it back into the kitchen. The grease filters catch fat, then the carbon filters behind them absorb cooking odours. Activated carbon has a limited capacity, and once it is saturated it stops trapping smells. Signs that the filters are spent include odours that linger long after cooking, a greasy film on nearby cupboards and a hood that seems noisier as air struggles through clogged media. Check your rangehood manual for the recommended replacement interval.

Fitting the carbon filters
Turn the rangehood off at the wall and let any lights cool. Remove the grease filters to reach the carbon filters behind them. Note how the old carbon filters attach, whether by twisting, clipping or sliding, and fit the new pair the same way. Wash the grease filters before refitting them, then run the fan on high for a minute to check for rattles.

Do I need both filters in the pack?
The twin pack gives you two ULX250 filters. If your hood takes a pair, both can be replaced at once. If it takes one, the second filter can be kept as a spare for the next change.
