When the appliance light stops working

Changing the globe
Turn the power off at the wall and give the old globe time to cool. Remove the lamp cover, then unscrew the globe anticlockwise. Screw the new one in until it's snug, without forcing it. Refit the cover so it seals properly, turn the power back on and check the light works.
