The slide rail links the two and lets the panel travel along it as the door opens and closes, so nothing binds or twists. Replacing an integration slide rail
Empty the door shelves first so the door is lighter and easier to control. Note exactly where the old rail sits, then remove its screws and fit the new rail in the same position. Switch the fridge off at the wall if it has to come out of the cavity. Afterwards, check the cabinetry door lines up with the cupboards beside it and that the fridge door seals all the way round. A helper to steady heavy panels makes the job easier.
