Broken evaporator cover in your F&P fridge freezer?
The evaporator is the cold coil that chills the air, and the cover sits in front of it to guide airflow and protect the fins. It also keeps food and packaging away from the coil, so ice does not form around items pressed against it. A cracked or missing cover can let air bypass its normal path, causing uneven temperatures and frost building up on the back wall. Covers often crack when ice is chipped away with a knife or when the cabinet is packed too tightly.

Fitting the evaporator cover
Turn the fridge off at the wall and remove food, shelves and drawers from the compartment. Let any ice on the coil melt naturally rather than chipping at it. Undo the screws or release the clips holding the old cover, unplug any fan or sensor wiring attached to it, and fit the new cover in the same position. Switch on and allow several hours for temperatures to settle.
