Fridge filter leaking or cartridge won't lock in

All the water heading to the dispenser and ice maker passes through this manifold. The supply line feeds into it, the water runs through the cartridge, and the filtered water leaves on the outlet side. Over time the plastic can crack, the internal seals can wear, and the locking lugs can break. That shows up as water pooling in the fridge or underneath it, a cartridge that won't turn into place or drops out, a dispenser that spits air, or no water at all. When a new cartridge doesn't cure the leak or the fit, replace the manifold.

Fitting the manifold

Shut the water supply valve feeding the fridge and switch the power off at the wall. Remove the cartridge and lay a towel down to catch spills. Note which line goes to the inlet and which to the outlet before you disconnect them, then unclip the old manifold. Mount the new one, reconnect each line fully, fit the right cartridge for your fridge and flush several litres through the dispenser while checking for leaks.
