Fisher & Paykel 862285 is the genuine FWC2 water filter cartridge for E442, E522, RF522 and RF610 fridges with water dispensing. It replaces the older number 836848 and is listed for models such as the E522BRXFDU and E442BRXFDU, the RF610ADUX and RF610ADUSX5, and the RF522WDLUX1. Some newer F&P fridges take the FWC3 filter, 847200, instead, so match your model before you order.
Slow dispenser or bad tasting water from your F&P fridge
Water from the mains passes through this cartridge before it reaches the dispenser and the ice maker. It traps sediment and improves the taste, but it only has a limited working life. Once it's past its best, flow from the dispenser drops off, ice cubes come out small or misshapen, and the water can taste flat or musty. If your fridge has a filter alert, it will also remind you when a change is due. Changing the cartridge on a regular schedule keeps the water clean and the system flowing freely.

Changing the FWC2 cartridge
Check your user manual for the filter location on your model. With a towel ready, remove the old cartridge and fit the new one firmly until it locks. Run water through the dispenser for a few minutes to clear out air and loose particles, and discard the first batch of ice made after the change.
