Dryer drum not turning? The motor may be at fault
The motor sits low in the cabinet and does two jobs. It turns the drum through the drive belt and also spins the fan that moves air through the heat pump circuit and the clothes. When it fails the dryer may hum without the drum turning, stop shortly after starting, trip the power, or show a motor related error. A burning smell, harsh grinding, or a drum that turns while the clothes stay damp because the airflow has stopped can also point to the motor. Check the belt and the fan for jams before replacing it.

Replacing the drum motor
Unplug the dryer and give yourself room to work, as the drum and belt usually need to come out to reach the motor. Take photos of the belt path, wiring and any brackets first. Heat pump dryers have a sealed refrigerant circuit, so take care not to bend or knock any pipework while you work. Fit the belt back around the motor pulley exactly as it was and turn the drum by hand before testing.
