Ceramic cooktop zone not glowing or heating

Under each zone of a ceramic cooktop sits a radiant element, a coiled ribbon set into an insulated dish. When powered it glows red and heats the glass above. Fitting a radiant element

Isolate the cooktop at the circuit breaker, as it is hard-wired, and have a licensed electrician do the job. The glass top usually has to come off to reach the elements, so lift it carefully onto a soft surface. Note the wiring to the element and any limiter, transfer it across and seat the new element flat in its position. Refit the glass and check the zone heats evenly.
