This genuine Electrolux group harness, 8583054426009, has four switch points and is listed for Westinghouse WHG642SA, WHG644SA and WHG646SA cooktops, the GHP and GHR 16, 17, 765 and 775 models, and the Electrolux EHGC77BS and EHGF77BX. You may also see it called 305442600 or A01014002.
Cooktop igniters clicking constantly or not sparking?
Each gas valve on the cooktop has a small micro switch on its stem. Pushing in and turning a knob closes that switch, which tells the spark generator to fire the electrodes. The harness links those switches together and runs back to the generator. Spills that seep down around the knobs, heat and plain age can make a switch stick closed or stop making contact. Typical results are clicking that carries on after the burner has lit, clicking with every knob turned off, or no spark at all, leaving you to light the burners with a match.

Fitting the switch harness safely
Turn the cooktop off at the power point or isolator and shut off the gas before the top is lifted. In Australia, work on gas appliances must be done by a licensed gas fitter, who will also leak test the cooktop when finished. Take photos of how the harness is routed and clipped to each valve, fit each new switch in the same orientation and keep the wires well away from burner heat.

Why does my cooktop keep clicking after I wipe it down?
Water or spray cleaner running down a knob stem can wet the switch underneath and hold it closed. It sometimes dries out by itself, but clicking that returns again and again, or won't stop at all, usually means the switch harness needs replacing.
