This is the bellow, the folded rubber boot that seals the gap between the front of the washing machine and the drum opening, keeping water inside the tub during the wash. Front loader leaking from the door

The bellow flexes every time the drum moves, and it also catches coins, hair clips and grit from pockets. Over time the rubber can tear in the folds or at the bottom, where water sits between washes. A damaged seal shows up as water on the floor in front of the machine, a wet patch on the door trim, or a musty smell from black mould deep in the folds. Changing the door bellow

Unplug the washer and turn off the taps. Remove the outer clamp ring at the front, fold back the bellow and take off the inner clamp at the drum. Line up any marks or drain holes on the new bellow with the bottom of the drum, fit the inner clamp first, then the outer one. Run a rinse cycle and watch for leaks.
