Fridge sweating, icing up or running constantly? Check the door seal
A magnetic door seal presses against the cabinet to keep cold air in and warm, humid air out. With age the rubber can split at the corners, go hard, or lose its shape so gaps open along the hinge side. The fridge then runs longer than it should, the power bill creeps up, condensation forms on the shelves and ice may build up where it shouldn't. A simple test is to close the door on a sheet of paper in several spots around the seal. If the paper slides out easily, the seal isn't gripping.

Fitting a new fridge door seal
Seals travel folded, so leave the new one in a warm room or soak it briefly in warm water to let the kinks relax. Most seals push into a channel or sit under a retaining strip. Ease the old one out a section at a time and press the new one in, starting at the corners. Close the door and check for gaps. A hair dryer on a low setting helps reshape any stubborn creases.
