Squealing dryer or belt slipping off

The idler pulley sits on a spring loaded arm and presses against the belt, keeping it tight around the drum and the motor pulley. Fitting the idler pulley

Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. Release the belt tension, slip the belt off and remove the old idler. Fit the new pulley, then route the belt around it the same way as before so it pulls in the right direction. Hand turn the drum through several rotations to make sure the belt runs true, and inspect the belt itself while you're in there.
