Gas oven not lighting? The igniter is a common cause
Rather than sparking, a hot surface igniter glows red hot when you turn the oven on and lights the gas as it flows over the burner. As it ages, the element can crack, burn through or lose its ability to get hot enough. The usual signs are an oven burner that never lights, a long wait before it catches, or an igniter that glows faintly or not at all. Fitting a gas oven igniter
This is a gas safety job, so have it done by a licensed gas fitter. Turn off the gas supply and isolate the power first. Hot surface igniters are brittle, so hold the new one by its mounting base and never touch or knock the element itself. Mount it in the same position as the old one relative to the burner, reconnect the wiring, then test that the burner lights promptly.
