Nova oven running too hot, too cold or not heating?
The oven thermostat senses cavity temperature through a capillary bulb and switches the elements on and off to hold the temperature you set. The auxiliary switch works alongside it, switching another part of the circuit as the knob turns. When the thermostat fails, the oven might not heat at all, overheat and burn food, cycle erratically, or ignore the temperature dial. A faulty auxiliary switch can leave a function that depends on it not working.

Replacing the thermostat
This is electrical work on what is normally a hard-wired oven, so turn the oven's circuit off at the switchboard and have a licensed electrician fit it. Label each wire on the old thermostat and switch before removing them. Feed the capillary and bulb carefully into the oven cavity and clip the bulb where the old one sat, without kinking the tube. Test the oven with an oven thermometer once it's back together.
