Why the inner glass seal matters in your oven door
Most oven doors are built with more than one layer of glass. This seal runs along the inner pane, holding it snugly in the door and closing the gap so hot air and cooking vapour stay inside the oven. After years of heat cycles the seal can harden, shrink or split. When that happens you may see grease or steam marks building up between the glass layers, hear the inner pane rattle, or find the outside of the door running hotter than it used to. It is a sensible part to replace whenever the door glass is out for cleaning.

Fitting the inner glass seal
Turn the oven off at the isolating switch and let it cool completely. Remove the door, lay it face down on a soft towel and take out the inner glass as your model's manual describes. Note exactly how the old seal sits on the glass edge before peeling it off. Clean the glass, fit the new seal evenly along the edge in the same way without stretching it, then refit the glass and door and check it closes cleanly.
