Heat escaping from your Chef or Simpson oven door?
The cavity seal is a gasket that runs around the opening of the oven. When the door closes it presses against the seal, keeping hot air inside and the outside of the door cooler. Old seals go flat, brittle or frayed and start to leak heat. You might notice the oven taking longer to reach temperature, uneven cooking near the door, scorching on the control panel or knobs above the door, or steam and smoke escaping around the edge.

Switch the oven off and let it cool fully. Before you pull the old seal out, work out how it is held, whether by clips, hooks or a channel, and where its ends sit. Start the new seal at the same point and work around evenly without stretching it, then close the door and check it seals the full way around.
