When the Simpson SWT7542 control board fails
Every stage of a wash, from filling and agitating to draining and spinning, is timed and switched by this board. When it goes faulty, the washer may not respond to the start button, sit with lights on but do nothing, skip stages, overfill, or stop mid program with water still in the bowl. Moisture getting into the console and power spikes are common causes of board failure. Test the simple things first, such as the lid switch, the power point and the water taps, before deciding the board is the problem.

Fitting the new control board
Switch off at the wall, pull out the plug, and turn off the water. Remove the screws holding the console and lift it carefully to reach the board. Photograph each wire and its position, transfer connectors one at a time if you can, and make sure every plug clicks fully home. Fit the console back without pinching any wires, then test a short program.
