Cracked outer glass on a Westinghouse oven door
The outer panel is the first layer of the door. Together with the inner glass, it holds heat in the oven and keeps the outside of the door at a safer temperature to touch. Outer glass usually breaks from a knock, a heavy pot dropped against it, or harsh cleaners and scourers that scratch and weaken the surface. Cracked oven glass can shatter without warning once it heats up, so stop using the oven until the panel has been replaced.

Replacing the outer door panel
Switch the oven off at the wall and let it cool completely. Taking the door off makes the job much easier, so follow your manual's steps for releasing the hinges, then lay the door on a blanket. Work slowly and keep track of every screw, clip and spacer. Check the inner glass is clean and seated properly before fitting the new outer panel.
