Fisher & Paykel Active Smart fridge not cooling properly

Active Smart fridges don't use a mechanical thermostat. Instead, the control board reads temperature sensors and uses those readings to run the compressor, the fans and the defrost cycle. When a sensor drifts or fails, the board is working from bad information. The fridge may run warm and spoil food, freeze lettuce and milk, leave the freezer soft, run almost constantly, or build up ice because defrost isn't happening on time. Some models will also flash a fault or sound an alarm when a sensor reading is out of range.

Fitting the sensor kit

Unplug the fridge at the wall and move food into an esky. Remove the covers or panels needed to reach each sensor, and take photos of how the leads are routed and clipped before disconnecting anything. Fit the new sensors in the same spots, clip the wiring back away from fans and sharp edges, then refit the panels. Give the fridge several hours to settle before judging the temperatures.
