Fridge door not sealing, sweating or icing up

A door seal keeps warm kitchen air out and cold air in. When it hardens, splits or loses its shape, warm moist air leaks in around the gap. The fridge then runs longer, frost or ice builds up inside, condensation forms on the cabinet edge, and food near the door spoils sooner. Test the seal by closing the door on a strip of paper at several points around it. If the paper slides out easily anywhere, the seal is no longer gripping.

Fitting a push in seal

Unpack the seal and leave it somewhere warm for a few hours, or warm it gently with a hair dryer on low, so the folds relax. Starting at a top corner, pull the old seal's push in edge out of the channel in the door liner. Press the new seal into the channel all the way round, working the corners in first. Close the door and check for gaps with the paper test.
