On a French door fridge, one door carries a vertical flapper that folds out as the doors close, giving both seals something to press against. Because the flapper sits right at the gap, it can get cold enough to form condensation or frost, which is why many are heated. If the harness breaks, often at the hinge point where it flexes, the heater stops working. You may then see water droplets on the flapper, ice forming along it, or the flapper sticking or not folding properly.

Fitting the flapper harness
Unplug the fridge before you start. Remove the door trims and covers to follow the harness route, and photograph every connector and clip. The harness may run through the door hinge, so take note of how it's routed there. Fit the new loom along the same path without pinching it, reconnect, and check the flapper feels slightly warm after the fridge has run for a while.
