Freezer drawer pulling out crooked?

Wide freezer drawers use a rack and pinion system so both sides move together, even if you pull the handle off centre. The pinion bracket holds the gear in position against the rack. If the bracket cracks or comes loose, the gear can jump teeth or drop away. The drawer then skews to one side, binds, closes unevenly or leaves a gap at the seal. A clicking sound as the drawer moves is another sign the pinion isn't held properly.

Fitting the pinion bracket

Switch the fridge off at the wall and move frozen food to an esky. Remove the freezer drawer and baskets so you can see the slides. Take a photo of the gear, rack and bracket before undoing anything. Fit the new bracket, make sure the pinion meshes cleanly with the rack, and test the drawer for a smooth, square run.

Should I replace both pinion brackets?

If only the right hand bracket is broken, 837010 alone will do. Check the left side while the drawer is out. If it is cracked or worn, order 837011 as well so both sides hold the pinions firmly.
