Product details

Water reaches the ice tray through a fill spigot, and 836936 is the genuine Fisher & Paykel spigot for fridges with an automatic ice maker. It guides each fill of water from the supply line into the tray. The spigot is a small part, but if it cracks or comes out of position, water ends up in the wrong place. Before buying, confirm 836936 on the old spigot or in the parts list for your model.

Ice maker overfilling, spilling or making no ice

Each time the ice maker cycles, the water valve opens briefly and the spigot directs that water into the tray. If the spigot is cracked, misaligned or blocked with ice, water can spill over the tray and freeze into a sheet on the bin or freezer floor, cubes can come out joined together, or the tray may not fill at all. A frozen spigot is often a symptom of something else, such as a water valve that lets water seep through after it closes, so look at the cause as well as the part.

Fitting the fill spigot

Unplug the fridge and turn off the water supply to it. Empty the ice bin and, if the spigot is iced up, let it thaw rather than chipping at the ice. Note how the old spigot sits relative to the tray before removing it, seat the replacement exactly where the old one was, then restore water and power and watch the next fill to make sure the water lands in the tray.

Questions about this part

My ice maker has stopped, will this fix it?

Only if the spigot is the problem. A spigot that's cracked, out of place or frozen solid stops water reaching the tray. If the spigot looks fine, check the water supply, the filter and the water valve, as those are common reasons an ice maker stops making ice.
