Product details

Genuine Fisher & Paykel part 836909 is a foam clip that holds a temperature sensor in place inside F&P fridges and freezers. The foam keeps the sensor snug in its proper spot. No model list is on file for this part, so check 836909 against your fridge's parts list or compare it with the clip you're replacing before ordering.

Why a loose fridge sensor causes trouble

Fridges rely on temperature sensors to decide when to run the compressor, fans and defrost heater. If a sensor works loose from its spot, it reads the wrong air or surface temperature, and the fridge reacts to bad information. You might see a compartment running too warm or too cold, frost building where it shouldn't, or defrost cycles finishing too early or too late. Foam clips also break or go missing during repairs, so it's worth having a new one on hand when a sensor is replaced.

Fitting the clip

Turn the fridge off at the wall before removing any panels. Note exactly where the old sensor and clip were positioned, because moving the sensor even a little changes its reading. Seat the sensor in the new foam clip, press it into the same spot and route the wire so it isn't pinched when the panel goes back on.
