A crisper only works well when the space above the produce is closed off. The humidity control lid seals the top of the bin and, on many models, has an adjustable vent so you can hold in moisture for leafy greens or let it escape for fruit. Changing the crisper lid

Take out the crisper bins first so you can see how the lid is supported. Depending on the model, the lid rests on ledges or clips under the glass shelf above. Lift or unclip the old lid, clean the area, then set the new lid in place and make sure it sits flat with any vent slider moving freely. Refit the bins and check they slide in without catching.
