Product details
On Fisher & Paykel French door fridges, the flapper is the hinged strip on one door that both door seals close against. Part 821688P is the genuine steel insert and heater for that flapper, replacing the earlier number 374048P. It's listed for the RF610ADUX1, the RF610ADUX2 and the RF610ADUX3, and for the RF540ADUX2 and RF540ADUX3.
Water or ice on the centre flapper of your F&P French door fridge?
Because the flapper sits right where warm kitchen air meets the cold cabinet, it has a heater behind a steel face to keep its surface from sweating. The steel also gives the magnetic door seals something to grip. If the heater fails, condensation forms on the flapper, drips down the doors and can freeze, so the flapper sticks or won't fold. A bent or corroded steel insert stops the doors sealing in the middle, letting cold escape and frost build up inside.

Replacing the flapper insert
Unplug the fridge at the wall. Open the door that carries the flapper and remove the flapper cover screws or clips. Note how the heater wiring is routed and connected, then fit the new insert and heater in the same position. Make sure the flapper folds freely and both doors close against it before restoring power.
Questions about this part
My flapper is wet but the fridge is cold. Is the heater the problem?
Very likely. Moisture or ice on the flapper face usually means its heater has stopped working or the connection has come apart. Check the wiring connection first, then replace the insert and heater if the heater has failed.
